Are there specific carriers that haul only boats?

There are some carriers that transport both boats and automobiles, but usually boat carriers spicifically transport boats and personal watercraft.

Can my boat be transported even if it doesn't have a trailer?

In most cases your boat can still be transported without a trailer. This information will need to be relayed to your shipping company so they can make sure the proper accommodations will be made.

What do I need to do to prepare my boat for transport?

You boat needs to be winterized if it will be going through any cold climates such as a high altitude mountain ranges or even normal winter conditions. 

All items must be securely fastened to your boat. If you have a cover that is made specifically for you boat it may be used during transport. Your cover must fasten to the boat with snaps or an equivalent. A regular tarp is not permitted as it may blow off of the boat - fitted covers only. 

Bearing buddies should be filled on your trailer to prevent overheating during transport. This only applies if your boat trailer will be pulled directly by the towing vehicle.

Will my boat and trailer be loaded onto another trailer or will my trailer be towed directly by the towing vehicle?

There are carriers that can offer either service based on the size of the boat. It is important that you ask your shipping company prior to placing your order. They may offer you the option with a cost for each.
